（几年前看电视剧Victoria的时候疯狂被Lord M圈粉给迷得七荤八素的，甚至到V&A结婚那段以后就弃置不看了。最近打算好好看一遍，但居然还是到了同样的地方再一次叉掉了视频，并且对Lord M的爱更深了👌
为了我的意难平vicbourne，斗胆使出我垃圾的英文，写了这么一段同人。
有受到一篇叫"The Last Letter"的同人的启发。
如果在这里有些反应（就是有那么几个人理我）且有这个需要的话或许会出中文的。

Lord Melbourne's Death
Adapted from ITV's tv series "Victoria".
(Warning: It has nothing to do with the actual history!)
"Lord Melbourne had gone." On a rather gloomy morning, a lady-in-waiting told Her Majesty.
"I see."Answered Her Majesty, without any show of emotion.
The ladies withdrew from the chamber, leaving Her Majesty Queen Victoria alone sitting beside the window. She stared outside with empty eyes.
"Lord M...William." Murmured her. It was the first yet the last time she called him by his Christian name, and that made her smile even more bitterly. All those memories of the delightful old days they spent together abruptly welled up in her mind in the mean time, and this nearly drove her mad.
Someone was knocking on the door from the outside. "Do come in." Said Her Majesty slightly, trying to make herself sound as calm as possible.
"They found this in Lord Melbourne's study, Ma'am."
Her Majesty gazed at the small thing her lady just gave her. It was a letter, but neither addresses nor stamps were found. And, on the envelope, only two words were written: "The Queen." She immediately recognised her beloved Lord M’s handwriting, tho' it had been a long long time since she received his last letter. After a few deep breaths to steady her nerves, Her Majesty opened the envelope eventually.
It began with, "My dearest Victoria,"
"Oh." Victoria was a little surprised by his way of addressing her, for it was indeed the very first time that he uses the way she had been desired to be called by him for years.
"Your Majesty, Please forgive my rudeness in calling your name directly. Since I am to be dead very soon, pray allow this dying man to do the thing he had been wanted for all time.
"I hardly know how to start it-
Seemed like His Lordship crossed out many lines. It must be very hard for him to complete the letter.
"I am not mentioning it for any particular reasons, but Ma'am, I have to admit- that day at Brocket Hall, you told me you have given me your heart and asked for mine, I said I have given it to Caroline and you must keep yours intact for someone else. I was not being frank enough- the reason why I couldn't give it to you is, you have had it long ago, and one cannot give his heart to the same person twice. You do have this fool's heart, Ma'am, you alone- Too weak, too nervous a fool I was!
"I was so despairing when my darling boy George Augustus left me, that I even thought about killing myself just as Caro tried before. It was you who enlightened my dreadful life, saved my broken soul, to make me realise there were still duties for me to be fulfilled - I must serve my Queen, my country and, the woman I adore.
"You will never know how happy I was that night at your coronation ball, Ma'am. Only if you insisted a while longer, I feared I might fail to control my sense. Indeed, I was so intoxicated in your tender blue eyes that I couldn't help dreaming the dance would last for ever.
"I feel quite relieved to see you and Prince Albert being together, but also, I envy him, for he is the only man who can have your entire heart now.
"How much I wish I could hold your hands again!
"I told you once, Ma'am, that you are the only reason for me to continue my life. Now I suppose I ultimately can say it proudly that my mission is perfectly accomplished, for you, Ma'am, have fully grown to a wonderful woman and of course, a remarkable Queen. You also have Prince Albert, who I am sure will appreciate you and cherish you by any means. Thus, I may retire with no burden.
"I should never have written this, for it is too selfish- And I do not even know if this foolish thing could ever reach you, Ma'am,
"But if it does-
"God Save The Queen.
"Believe it to be most fervent, most unswerving, most undeviating in
W. L."
Tears wet the letter.
What Victoria wrote in her journal on the day of her coronation was: “When my good Lord Melbourne knelt down and kissed my hand, he pressed my hand and I grasped his with all my heart."
She wanted so desperately to grasp his hands once more.
Then she noticed there was something inconspicuous written on the back of the letter, that read, "Be confident that you are every inch a Queen."
Ten minutes later, Her Majesty stepped out of her chamber, went to the grand hall, and greeted all her ministers, as gracefully as always.
She made a great monarch and formed a great empire, just as he always wished.
<William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne passed away in 1848. Queen Victoria announced that the capital of Victoria, Australia shall be named Melbourne, after her first Prime Minister, and also her first tutor who taught her how to be a qualified constitutional monarch. And to many who had been in the court from 1837~1841, Lord Melbourne was her first love.>
